Alpha Metallurgical Resources (NYSE:AMR) said Friday a temporary production halt at the Road Fork 52 mine in West Virginia and a mechanical failure at the Dominion Terminal plant in Virginia have contributed to delayed shipments.
While both issues have been “substantially resolved,” they are expected to delay certain shipments into Q3 that otherwise would have occurred in Q2, the company said.
Alpha (AMR) said the Road Fork 52 mine temporarily stopped production as a safety precaution due to a ventilation problem that probably stemmed from a previously mined and worked-out area, resulting in delayed shipments of coal to customers who have received force majeure letters.
At the Dominion Terminal facility, in which Alpha (AMR) holds a 65% ownership interest, a stacker/reclaimer machine was inoperable for three days while it was repaired, which created related vessel loading delays for 250K short tons of shipments for export customers, who have received force majeure letters; the company expects to fulfill these shipments next month.
