A software issue with Boeing’s (NYSE:BA) 737 Max and 787 Dreamliner planes described in a report by Leeham News and Airfinance Journal can’t be considered new, analysts at TD Cowen said in a research note.
“Today’s Leeham News article looks misleading in that the software issue it describes as ‘new’ has been known for over a year and isn’t expected to cause incremental delays in 737 Max or 787 deliveries,” Cai von Rumohr, analyst at TD Cowen, said in a March 6 report.
“Because cockpit software can differ by operator, software updates can be required in delivery to a customer other than the original purchaser,” according to TD Cowen. “Boeing (BA) indicates this issue has been known for well over a year, isn’t new, was well understood at the time of their investor day, and won’t cause any incremental impact to Boeing’s (BA) projected deliveries.”
